Over the weekend during a period of tavern crawling I'd heard rumors of a large golden coin that the scalvus were protecting atop a hill at 21.2N 12.6W, near Danby's outpost.

Passing this rumor on to Arcus we decided to go check out the situation as our mansion is in the vicinity of Danby's. We buffed up and headed the portal just north of Zaikhal.

Strike one. Danby's isn't exactly near, more like a 20K jaunt to the mountain (may have been quicker to just run from the homestead).

But the fresh air is nice and the occassional yellow or green dye plant makes the trip worthwhile.

Strike two. The hill is more of a mountain and the mountain isn't climbable.

Guess hunting down the Chomu Scalvus and getting a portal gem really is needed.

Often seen out in the eastern Dires around the Swamp Temple we used the Kivik Lir Portal and commenced searching, and searching, and searching. Oh not for scavlus we found plenty of those! No, for that eliusive scalvus with a portal gem. Several hours later and a couple of backpacks heavier with salvage we decided to switch to the Arcanium Storehouse Upper level in lin as it's six or seven levels of nothing but Scalvus. Several hours later after numerous trips from top to bottom we went home with nothing but salvage.

Fast forward thru several days of hour or two around Swamp Temple, other stuff, hour or two in Storehouse till early this morning I found a Favis Scalvus with the all too rare gem. So I rested up and awaited Arc's arrival.

Strike three, Favis dropped it not a Chomu, gosh can't anyone these days get the details right!

After a day of toiling in the hot sun Arc arrived just as the sun hit its zenith. So a round of huffing & puffing and buffing & baning commmenced and we used the gem.  Arriving atop an insolated area away from the enclave of Scalvus we rushed forth and took out our frustrations over the hours spent looking for the gem.

The Scalvus surely weren't prepared for such hostility and were easily over matched. Searching thru the buildings under construction we came upon a chest to the north east. So we grabbed the coin and headed to the chest.

There to the south east was the large gold coin. Picking up one couldn't help but notice a small green snake which is coiled around the coin grips it covetously and flicks its tongue at you. The snake wraps itself around your fingers, preventing you from dropping the coin. My coin will not fulfill the ache of wretched greed. My curse on those who take my coin and mistake that ache with need. The snake releases its grip on your fingers as you slip the coin back into your backpack. Do not forget that you are bound to this coin as much as I am. The snake wraps itself around your fingers, preventing you from dropping the coin. "You cannot discard my curse so easily. You are charged with a mission to help those in need and I will see that you fulfill it."

Oh great a reward we can't drop or get rid of. However, there is that old Sho tale of the greedy king and the golden pillar in the Hebian-to library. A truly kind person can stop the curse of greed by a selfless act. And with the poor beggars of Dryreach in need whatever they can get to feed themselves, we headed off to selflessly contribute to their cause.

Getting to Dryreach was just a mule portal summon and a jump over the wall to find Binthura the Beggar. 

She was all too happy to accept the gold coin and offered in payment the Philanthropist Title Token and a Serpent Ring (level 40 arcane 100 to weild for acid pro 6, armor other 6 and willpower other 5),

The chest is on a 7 day timer, and gold coin appears to be a one time event.
