Aegis Shield

Being Ceti’s last night for several moons*, he and Pavis Rahu were deciding what big event to perform on his last night as a celebration.  WP was doing Bobo, but much later in the evening and may run him into timimg issues.  So we hit upon attempting the Aegis shield quest. Sure it’s a 0SL 0/0/0/0/0/0/0 but its special properties of reducing war spell damage did sound interesting.

In typical Loresraat fashion once the decision was made Sun logs in and upon hearing of the event decides to let Zhalid tag along.  I repeat, once Zhalid is being buffed Anheuser shows up and now Winchester will be riding shotgun.  The duo has become a quartet.  As luck would have it, we get all four buffed and head out to Rithwic to visit the alchy hag, Leander, under Martime’s Retreat before anyone else showed up.

She’s been doing some super secret government research and claims to have discovered a new use for high grade refined Chlorozite.  Being the gentlemen we are, we took her at her word and portaled off to Mayoi where we hopped the portal to the Lugian Estates to hoof it to the excavations.

Four mighty warriors were more then the giga’s could handle and they all layed down quicker then bowling pins on a Friday night.   Mosty it is just straight ahead and down the ramps, trying to avoid the debuff and stam drain traps.  Once down into the old mine part start searching the corpses for a pick axe (one will be needed and can be passed from player to player).  After obtaining an axe head down one of the shaft paths till you come to the end where you should find a Deposit of High-Grade  Chorizite Ore.  If someone has been there and already mined the ore your options are to take one of the other shafts or wait for more to spawn.  Using the axe on the ore deposit will yield you a piece of heavy ore.  As only one ore sample can be processed every 16 hours and the ore is heavy it is not recommended that you load up**.

Zhalid portal recalled meaning to summon the Malia estates portal only to discover that it been switched to the mid grade ore excavation. I portal recalled to the front door so I could exit and run back to the housing_.. oh right those are in Mayoi.  So that left Ceti and Chester hoping Ceti’s hub portal enroute to Mayoi, while Zhalid and Pavis cajoled Tiwaz into a hub portal.

Eventually everyone was in Mayoi and heading to the house portal ring when Pavis realized he had been totally debuffed in the ore mine and would now be dashing across NW Dereth nakked.  Or as nakded as one gets in 300AL armor.  Luck was on their side and after dispatching one or two annoying critters the ore was refined and the happy quartet headed towards Rithwic once more.

Leandra took our ore and returned a set of instructions and choritize distillation as promised.  Careful analysis of the instructions indicated we would have to obtain a special crystal object from the Abandoned Armory [83.6S 14.7W] to make our shield.  So once again it was time to pester Tiwaz for buffs and a hub portal.

Then we were off to Qalaba’r to hop the Landbridge Villa Estates portal to put us close to the Armory.  If you call a 14km run along the inland sea close.  With four melee toons of various levels and skills it was soon four separate parades being lead westward.  Eventually everyone was inside and ready to kill some undead - Revennat, Dark Revenant, Dark Leech and Dark Magus.

The dungeon is symmetrical with an annoying number of undead in the middle of a large room that has pressure plates to open the doors to the next lower level.

With lots of whack-whack or thump-thump, find the presure place and on to the next level.

We charged into the final room an began the assualt.    Things were going good till a message scrolled across the screen in green.  Your Fellow Tactian has died.  Turns out the room has a wisp or two and one had targeted and chain warred Tact to death.

View of the final room as seen from the ramp.

Rushing to Tact’s corpse I’m about to tell him to permit me when I see it’s not his but Mental Illness.

Who of course isn’t on to permit.  Wanting to help Tact obtain his shield we raced back up a level and took the exit portal so we could assist Tact in getting back down.  Where upon we discovered that when Tact portal recalled he was in the Villas complex, Armory is a no-tie no-recall portal. So we sat at the mansion awaiting word of Tact’s arrival at the Armory.

Having knowledge of a wisp in the last room we changed tactics slightly, at the final room we charged the wisp and dispatched it before it could harm anyone.  Then waited as Tact considered which color best accented his clothing and eyes.  Still no MI online, oh well.

What you mean that’s not Mental-Illness, it says so right there Mental Illness.  Oh no dash, never mind guess we don’t have to wait around to save MI’s stuff.  So we recalled home with another interesting quest notched off.

Fulgar Caeles version:

We went on a quest; Ceti didn’t die, and I repeat Ceti didn’t die! Check planetary alignments, Sun spots something is terrible wrong in the cosmos.   http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/02/28/asteriod.alert/index.html

Wonder if that will occur on patch day? Was someone’s brilliant ACVault observation.

* Ceti is in the process of moving his earth bound lifestone from Iceland to Italy and has no knowledge of a portal to shorten his travel time.

** If you visit the Ore mines late at night you can get two samples, then go to the refinnery and get one sample refined.  Log out at the refinnery so when you log back in (say sleep + work > 16 hours) then you can get the second sample refinned and recall home.
